The Department of Public Safety encourages and supports the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors to our campus, while ensuring a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment for the UHart community to live, learn, work, and play.

If you need assistance or help in an emergency, you can reach us in several ways:
  • Routine calls can be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week to 860.768.7985.
  • Our 24-hour emergency number is 860.768.7777 or dial 7777 from any campus phone.
  • Blue light emergency phones with a direct link to public safety are located throughout campus.
  • We may also be reached via email at pubsafety@10ybbs.com and the LiveSafe App.

Our Location

Our headquarters is located on the northeast side of campus adjacent to parking lot E and across from the parking lot for Konover Campus Center and Lincoln Theater.

Our new Public Safety Community Office is located near Alumni Plaza on the residential side of campus.

Our Public Safety team takes great pride in serving our vibrant campus community. Public Safety services include bike and foot patrol, emergency response, medical services, building security, and training and workshops.

Comfort Dog Teddy

Teddy UHart Comfort Dog and Michael Calderon

Teddy, the 2-year-old Labrador retriever, has joined the pack at UHart’s Department of Public Safety as a campus comfort canine. He’s the working partner and family member of Public Safety Officer Michael Calderon, who takes him home after each shift for the more typical part of his doggie days. Learn more about Teddy's training and background.

Teddy is excited to meet with students one-on-one and at events!
